“Julia is totally cool to work with. She’s creative, totally together with details and offers great ideas when you can’t think of any yourself. The logo she did for me for my website was perfect the first time she sent it over to me. Highly recommend working with her…”

Really professional work! Julia didn’t just make my logo. She helped me work out what I want for my company, how I want to be seen, and how to translate that into an image. She truly invests in getting the very best results. I couldn’t be happier with her work, and all the advice and support she’s given me.

How to master inspiration

500 tabs opened in the browser. That’s how browsing the internet looks like for some while in search for inspiration. The problem is, inspiration is a state of mind and a practice.

A friend referred a band to me who wanted a logo designed for them.
Client: Hello, we were told that you’re a designer and you can do logos?
Me: Yep. Here are some samples of past work and these are my terms of service and hourly rate.
Client: These are great! Ok, we’d like to hire you for this.
They described what they wanted, and I agreed to get them some concepts within a week.
Six days later, I emailed them three concepts.
Me: let me know which one you like best and then we can move on to colors and a final version.
A couple weeks pass; no reply. I start to get antsy. I think maybe they’re busy with shows, so I send a reminder:
Me: Hey there, haven’t heard back from you yet, just let me know when you can what concept you like best and then we can move forward with it.
A couple days later, I get this reply from them:
Client: We are very disappointed with this. We hired you for a finished logo and then all we get is these sketches which aren’t even good, and have to wait a month too. Forget about this, we’re going to find someone who can give us what we want.
Me: Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean? I need your approval on concepts before I create a finished product for you.
They never replied. Or paid me.
Don’t be a Designer that can’t communicate a project brief and forge a contract.
